What is the best Spaceship SellerHub alternative?
For sales you close yourself, a no-commission marketplace with escrow built in is the best SellerHub alternative, because it cuts the 10% to zero. For buyer traffic, Afternic reaches more registrars but costs 15% to 30%. Efty Pay charges 5% per transaction on top of a monthly plan. Sedo sits between them at 10% to 20%.
Most sellers who move do not move everything. The common setup is to keep names listed where buyers already search, and route the sales you generate yourself, from inquiries, outbound emails and repeat buyers, through a channel that takes no cut. The numbers below show where that line falls.
How much does Spaceship SellerHub charge?
SellerHub charges a 10% commission on a completed sale. It launched at 5%, and on February 10, 2026 Spaceship briefly tested a 5% buyer fee on top of the seller's 5%. A day later it rolled that test back and set the overall commission at 10%, with buyer and seller free to negotiate who pays it. Checkout and self-serve links still run at 5%.
| How the sale closes | Commission | You keep on $5,000 |
|---|---|---|
| SellerHub before February 11, 2026 | 5% | $4,750 |
| SellerHub sale today, seller pays | 10% | $4,500 |
| SellerHub checkout or self-serve link | 5% | $4,750 |
| SellerHub, commission split with the buyer | 5% each | $4,750, if the buyer agrees |
The figures come from Domain Name Wire's report of February 11, 2026 and Spaceship's SellerHub pages. Commission rates on every platform in this article change, so check the current terms before you move a portfolio.
SellerHub alternatives compared
The marketplaces SellerHub users weigh most often, with honest notes on where each one wins.
| Marketplace | Seller cost | Lease to own | Best for | Weak spot |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spaceship SellerHub | 10%, 5% on checkout links | Yes | Names already registered at Spaceship | Rate doubled once in 2026; younger buyer network |
| Afternic | 15% to 30%, $15 minimum | Yes | Buyers who search at GoDaddy and partner registrars | Highest cut; the low rates need GoDaddy nameservers |
| Sedo | 10% on its lander, 15% direct, 20% via partners | Check current terms | International buyers, auctions, brokerage | Smaller US registrar footprint than Afternic |
| Efty | Monthly plan, plus 5% if you close through Efty Pay | Yes | Portfolio owners who want their own landers | Two fees to model, smaller buyer marketplace |
| Domaining | No commission; plan from $49 a month or $288 a year | No | Sellers who close direct and buy at the drop too | No installments, no registrar distribution |
Afternic's fee tiers and the trade-off of its lander are covered in our Afternic alternative article, and the Sedo rates in the Sedo alternatives guide. Efty's own founder argued in February that 5% barely covers payment risk and fraud costs, which is a fair warning that low commission rates tend to drift upward.
What you give up when you leave SellerHub
Be clear about what the 10% buys before you cut it. Three things are hard to replace.
Registrar-side transfers
A name registered at Spaceship and sold on SellerHub moves inside one account system. Elsewhere you need escrow: the buyer pays first and the money is released only after the transfer, which Domaining includes on every sale through domain escrow.
Lease to own
SellerHub, Afternic and Efty sell on installments. Domaining does not, so keep installment names where they are.
Spaceship buyer traffic
Some buyers find a name through Spaceship search. If those sales have paid you before, keep the listing there and add a direct channel next to it.
When a flat plan beats 10 percent
Divide the yearly plan by the commission rate. Starter, billed at $288 a year, breaks even against SellerHub's 10% at $2,880 in sales a year. A single mid four figure sale clears it. Pro, at $888 a year with 500 listings and buyer matching, breaks even at $8,880 in sales.
| Direct sales a year | SellerHub at 10% | Afternic at 15% | Domaining Starter, yearly |
|---|---|---|---|
| $3,000 | $300 | $450 | $288 |
| $10,000 | $1,000 | $1,500 | $288 |
| $50,000 | $5,000 | $7,500 | $288, or $888 on Pro for more listings |
The honest caveat: count only the sales you would have closed without SellerHub's traffic. A buyer who found the name through Spaceship search would not have found your direct listing. Compare that smaller number against the plan, not your total sales.
Once sales come from three or four places, the payouts get hard to reconcile at tax time. SellerHub, Afternic, Sedo and escrow all pay out on their own schedules, and an income tracker for sellers keeps every payout in one ledger so you know what each channel really earned you after fees.
Running SellerHub and a direct channel together
A routine that keeps the traffic and drops the commission where it does not earn its keep.
-
1
Export your SellerHub list
Pull names and asking prices into a CSV, along with which names have sold or drawn offers in the past year.
-
2
Re-price with a score
Import the names and read the value score with the reasons behind it. Prices set when you registered a name are often out of date. The domain appraisal page explains how the score is built.
-
3
Split by channel
Keep lease to own names and names that sold through Spaceship search on SellerHub. List the rest with buy now or offers on the domain marketplace.
-
4
Send type-in visitors to your listing
Point names you sell direct at domain parking, so a visitor lands on your for-sale page with escrow attached and no commission.
The same account runs the buying side. Spaceship names that lapse after a cheap first year are a steady source of restock, and the Spaceship domain backorder page shows the 77 day path from expiry to the drop. Sellers who left Dan.com for the same reason will find the fee history in the Dan.com alternative article.
Keep the full price on the sales you close yourself
Listings with buy now and offers, for-sale pages, escrow on every sale and no commission. Plans start at $49 a month with 25 listings. Compare limits on pricing.
Domaining is not affiliated with Spaceship, Namecheap, Afternic, GoDaddy, Sedo or Efty. Details come from their public pages and published reporting and can change.
